Geography and history
Steynsrus is a small town located in the Northern Free State region of the Free State Province in South Africa. This aggregation of cattle farms was established in 1910 and named after the last president of the Orange Free State Republic, MT Steyn. Steynsrus is an old-fashioned town, but its pottery establishment has gained national distribution. This town is located roughly 50 km from Kroonstad and has a population of around 1 500 residents. In the centre of the town is The Sandstone Church, a fine reflection of turn-of-the-century sandstone architecture.
