Geography and history
Hoopstad, meaning town of hope, is a small town located in the Lejweleputswa region of the Free State Province in South Africa. This town shares the other half of a farm named Kameeldoorns with the town Bultfontein. Hoopstad is an important link to and from Bloemhof Dam, the Sandveld Nature Reserve, Welkom and the North West Province. It is situated in the middle of the country’s richest maize-producing region.

Its picturesque savannah and wetlands are perfect for anglers, game viewers and nature lovers. Some of the wildlife that can be viewed here includes gemsbok, kudu, wildebeest, rhino, buffalo and giraffe.
