Hobhouse

Geography and history

Hobhouse is a small town situated in the Motheo and Xhariep region of the Free State Province in South Africa. It was founded in 1912 and named after Emily Hobhouse. She was a British suffragette who looked after Boere in the Anglo-Boer War. Hobhouse is a small centre of maize, wheat, cheese and livestock production.
